VOLUNTEER HELP WANTED!
We need the help of wonderful people like yourself to volunteer as instructors, facility technicians, and front office helpers. Here’s how it works: For Urban Workshop to be able to expand its hours and class offerings we need additional staff to help out. Until fully trained, volunteers will shadow one of our full time employees to learn the ropes. The training may also include taking some classes on the machinery. Once you are fully up to speed, you will be asked to commit to a regular schedule so that we can best serve our members. For example, maybe you can do a 4 hour shift every Wednesday evening from 6 pm to 10 pm, or you can teach a class every Sunday morning from 9 am to 1 pm. We do have one additional request for instructors in areas that may not have a curriculum prepared already (or if you want to introduce the other members to a skill or project you enjoy). You will need to work with our staff to help develop the curriculum. The way we see it is, if you have the experience and the skills to teach the class you are likely a better choice to help write the class documentation. What do I get for Volunteering? Other than the warm fuzzy feeling of helping others learn and be safe? You get free membership to the workshop AND free classes (you still need to cover materials though). You’ll get a few nifty Urban Workshop T-shirts too! Conversely, you will need to commit to a minimum of 4 classes per month for instructors and 32 volunteer hours per month for shop and office volunteers.
Facility Technicians and Front Office helpers: To be considered for a tech or office position, please email us your contact information, a summary of your experience, identify which position you are interested in, any credentials/training you may have, and a proposed list of days and times that you can be available. Instructors:To be considered for a instructor position, please email us your contact information, a summary of your experience, a list of areas you are qualified/interested to teach, any certifications you may have, and a proposed list of days and times that you can teach classes. We will contact you soon afterward to schedule a meeting at Urban Workshop. If you have questions please feel free to call us at 949-296-2153. THANK YOU for your enthusiasm and support! Urban Workshop has blossomed into a wonderful community of knowledgeable and generous people. We welcome you to become a part of it.
Youth STEM Program Instructors Wanted
Urban Workshop’s youth STEM / shop class program is growing by leaps and bounds! We need additional instructors to keep up with the demand.
If you are mechanically inclined with good shop skills and previous experience as a teacher, we need your help as a full or part-time teacher. Formal teaching credentials are not required, but enthusiasm, a willingness to learn new technology, and strong desire to contribute to the youth of tomorrow is definitely required. Urban Workshop will provide training in all areas of the kid’s program to ensure instructors are completely capable of supporting the program. All new instructors will be placed with an experienced instructor for their first semester.
The Urban Workshop youth program uses a highly developed, proprietary curriculum that is well defined and supported. Instructors can expect to have a very easy time with class preparation and devote their time to working with the students.
