Series 100 Classes – General Automotive
AUT101 Auto Lift Safety
The automotive lifts are intended to support vehicles that you will be working under. This class covers the safe setup and operation of our twin-post, asymmetric automotive lifts. We will cover how to identify the lift points on any vehicle. This class is required to be taken in order to use the Auto Lifts at Urban Workshop.
Attire: Pants, closed toe shoes, shirt that covers shoulders
Age: Individual participants in this class need to be 18 years of age or above. Ages 14 to 17 with parent or guardian.

AUT102 Auto Maintenance
This course will cover the most basic vehicle operation. The fundamental systems that vehicles have will be identified, their various function will be discussed, and then as well as how to check and repair the condition of the most commonly found (and prevented) items. During this lesson, each component will be shown, what its function is and how it is maintained. Each student will have the opportunity to bring in their vehicle to perform an under hood and around the car inspection during the lesson.

AUT103 Power Mechanics Basics - 4-cycle Engines
Learn about four cycle engines and their principles of operation while gaining additional experience with basic mechanics hand tools. This class will cover general safety, process specific safety, and general use of basic mechanics hand tools. To gain experience students will disassemble and reassemble a small horizontal shaft gasoline engine.

Series 200 Classes – Automotive Tools
AUT201 - Basic Automotive Tools
Working on your car and doing basic maintenance and repairs can be easy if you know what tools are available and how to use them. On your own car you will use basic tools to and automotive specific tools to inspect your car including suspension checks, drive line inspection, chassis lubrication, brake wear indicators, accessing filters, checking fluid levels, and more.

AUT202 Advanced Automotive Tools
This class will show you how to use the more advanced diagnostic tools such as a code reader to diagnose check engine lights or drivability issues. With all the electronics on modern cars we will run thru how to use various meters to test sensors and verify readings to OEM baselines.

AUT203 Tire Machine and Balancer
Learn to use the Sicam automotive tire machine to remove and install tires and them use the Sicam digital balancer to get them rolling just right. You will learn the proper tire mounting techniques using a standard 15″ steel automotive wheel but the techniques apply to any wheel. The Sicam machine will service tires with large diameters and low profiles making it very versatile and a good machine to learn on. Balancing techniques will be covered for steel and aluminum wheels using clip-on or adhesive backed wheel weights.
