JWL101 Jewelry Making Basics

This introductory class will introduce you to a variety of fabrication techniques used to make custom jewelry. Techniques commonly used in jewelry and metalsmithing are sawing, piercing, soldering, basic stone setting, forming, and finishing are explored through the creation of individual projects.

Attire: Pants, closed toe shoes, shirt that covers shoulders

Ages: 18 and up. Ages 14–17 allowed with parental permission. Under 14 requires a parent to be present in class.

JWL102 Soldering and Brazing Jewelry

Solder is a metal alloy that can be used to join dissimilar metals together, and is often used to build plumbing, metal structures, and jewelry. This introductory solder/brazing class will introduce you to joining materials on a small scale. Learn proper setup, safety, and torch operation to successfully solder various metals and joints.

JWL103 Wire Wrapping Jewelry

Learn step by step techniques to make beautiful jewelry designs with wire over beads and finished stone. Students will learn how to attach beads with solderless wire linking techniques to make earrings, bracelets and necklaces. The class will cover how to use jump rings, spacers, charms and clasps with a particular design.
