Series 100 Classes – Metal Shop Basics
MTL101 Metal Shop Basics
In this class, you will learn to work with cutting and shaping tools for metal, mostly mild steel. The focus is on thicker pieces of metal rather than sheet metal. This class will cover general machine shop safety, process specific safety, and general use of chop saws, sheet metal bend and break, band saws, drill press, hydraulic press, grinders, sanders, and sand blasting cabinet. You will apply everything you have learned here to make a cool bottle opener from a strip of thick metal.
Attire: Pants, closed toe shoes, shirt that covers shoulders
Age: Individual participants in this class need to be 18 years of age or above. Ages 14 to 17 with parent or guardian.

MTL102 Metal Shop Hand Tool Basics
In this class, you will learn to work with the most common hand tools used in the metal shop for cutting and shaping metal. This class will cover general use of hand saws, grinders, nibblers, files, air tools, and hand layout tools and techniques.

Series 200 Classes – Sheet Metal Forming
MTL201 Sheet Metal Basics
This class will teach you how to layout sheet metal projects and explain corner reliefs, bend allowances, and metal grades for bending. Students will then transfer a design from a drawing to a piece of sheet and then fabricate the design using the shear, brake, punch, roller, and other sheet metal hand tools.

MTL202 Sheet Metal Forming
This class will teach you how to manipulate sheet metal to make shapes with complex curves on the english wheel, bead roller, planishing hammer, and using traditional metal forming hand tools and a sand bag.
