Real Life Skills for Young Makers!
Currently Enrolling: Summer Camp 2026
Bringing shop class back! Urban Workshop’s Youth Program gives kids a fun, hands-on way to learn real-world skills using both traditional and modern power tools. Perfect for homeschoolers or extracurricular enrichment. This program blends STEM concepts and industrial arts while letting students build projects they can proudly take home. Sessions are offered year-round. All students start with Level 1 and build on their skills throughout Levels 2-4.
Ready to enroll? Click on the appropriate level below to view the schedule. Choose the week that best fits your availability. Please note: This is a 1-week commitment, no make up sessions offered. Each camp meets Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm. When enrolling online, be sure to create a Mindbody profile using the student’s information. Each student must have their own individual account. Cost: $900 per student. Includes the cost of materials and tools. Call to use charter funds.
LEVEL 1 SCHEDULE:
Level 1 Overview
Level 1 covers the following hands-on skills: Basic Hand Tools, Sheet Metal Fabrication, Spot Welding, DC Electronics & Wiring, CAD Skills: 3D Printing, Intro to Laser Etching, Arduino: Intro to Physical Computing, Hand Sewing Basics,Vacuum Forming, Silicone Molding, Woodshop: Introduction, and Silk Screening.
LEVEL 2 SCHEDULE:
Level 2 Overview
Level 2 covers the following hands-on skills: Power Mechanics: 4 Cycle Engines, CAD Skills: Intermediate, Jewelry Making: Soldering, Intermediate Laser Etching: Rotary Tool, Woodshop: Intro to Power Tools, Staining & Finishing Techniques, MIG Welding Basics, Arduino: Sensors, and Electronics & Soldering
LEVEL 3 SCHEDULE:
Level 3 Overview
Level 3 covers the following hands-on skills: Woodshop: Intermediate, Advanced Sheet Metal Fabrication: Sheet Metal Tool Box, Metal Power Tools, Advanced Welding: Welded Metal Sculpture (Cube Knot), Reverse Engineering Techniques, Arduino: Intro to Robotics, Advanced CAD Skills, AND THE EXTREMELY POPULAR: Make Your Own Vintage-Style Hardwood Skateboard
LEVEL 4 SCHEDULE:
Level 4 Overview
Level 4 covers the following hands-on skills: Leather Working: Speaker Handle, Woodshop: Advanced Staining, Woodshop: Finishing Techniques, Electronics: Advanced Wiring, Advanced MIG Welding, Work Holding Techniques, Welding Fabrication, and Grinding Techniques.
All skills covered are applied to two main projects: Bluetooth Speaker and Welded Wall-E Metal Sculpture
